About Park Jimin

Jimin is a singer and dancer better known by his stage name Park Ji-min. He is one of the 7th members of world known K-pop band BTS. He is one of the main dancers and a lead vocalist in the group. He is known for his unique dance skills and remarkable fashion sense. 

Jimin has released three solo songs under the BTS moniker: “Lie” in 2016, “Serendipity” in 2017, and “Filter” in 2020. Each of these songs has reached the top 100 on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart. He recorded the duet “With You” with Ha Sung-Woon for the soundtrack to the TVN drama Our Blues in 2022 after releasing his first song with a credit, the digital track “Promise,” which he co-wrote, in 2018. 

In 2023, he issued Face, his first studio album. It debuted at number one in South Korea and Japan, number two in the US, and number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 with its second single, “Like Crazy.” He is the first Korean musician to reach the top of the Hot 100 and has the best Billboard 200 solo charting position of all time for Korea.

Family & Education

Family

In the South Korean city of Busan’s Geumjeong District, Jimin was born on October 13, 1995. Park will be 28 years old in 2023. Jimin comes from a conventional South Korean family. Himself, his family consists of four people. His parents and a sibling who is younger. He is closest to his family out of all of them. Park Hyun-soo, the father of the BTS singer, recently hosted the Norwegian Ambassador Frode Solberg in South Korea at his cafe.

Education

He went to Yonsan Middle School and Hodong Elementary School in Busan as a youngster. He studied popping and locking while attending Just Dance Academy in middle school. He studied contemporary dance and was a standout student in the modern dance division at Busan High School of Arts before becoming a trainee. 

He found Big Hit Entertainment as a result of a teacher’s recommendation that he works for an entertainment organization. He transferred to Korean Arts High School after passing the auditions in 2012, and in 2014 he received his diploma.

Broadcasting and Entertainment major he received his diploma from Global Cyber University in August 2020. He will begin studying for a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media at Hanyang Cyber University in 2021.

Career

On June 13, 2013, Jimin was spotted joining the BTS group for the first time. In this scene, it appears like he is getting a chance to join the group as a dancer and singer. His journey from a trainee to finally becoming one of the members of the biggest K-pop band BTS wasn’t very smooth. In one of the interviews, he revealed that he was almost kicked out of the final lineup around 8 times before becoming a member. He worked harder than everyone in the group and had to go through rigorous training and diets to meet the lineup standards.

He debuted as a member of BTS with their first album “No more dream” in 2013. Since then he’s working non-stop as a member and also growing as an individual artist. He released the tracks “Lie,” “Serendipity,” and “Filter” as solo projects under the band’s name. As a part of the group’s second Korean studio album, Wings, “Lie” was made available in 2016. It was regarded as breathtaking and dramatic, evoking dark undertones and feelings consistent with the album’s overall idea.

When “Serendipity” hit the 100 million view mark in May 2019, he made history as the first member of BTS to have a solo music video reach that number.

He remains the only member of BTS to have multiple solo songs included in the OCC’s top 40 list as of January 2020: “Lie” and “Serendipity” was the second and third most streamed solo singles, coming in at numbers 24 and 29, respectively, with the full-length version of the latter song coming in at number 38.

The following month, “Filter,” which debuted at number 87 on the chart and became his first number-one song on the World Digital Song Sales chart, gave his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100.  “Filter” became the 15th song by BTS to spend a full year on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart in March 2021.

Jimin’s debut song with credit as a solo artist, “Promise,” was made available on BTS’ SoundCloud page for free on December 30.

On December 24, 2020, he dropped his second solo track, “Christmas Love,” which was inspired by his early recollections of the season. He collaborated with Ha Sung-Woon on the song “With You,” which was featured on the soundtrack for the TvN drama Our Blues in 2022. The song was released on April 24.

Later the same month, he received the news that he would serve as the global ambassador for Dior, and in March, he would represent Tiffany & Co. On March 6, Jimin’s official songs “Promise” and “Christmas Love” became accessible on streaming services throughout the world. Face, his first solo effort, was released on March 24.

The two singles from the album, “Set Me Free Pt. 2” and “Like Crazy,” which were made available on March 17 and 24, respectively, both debuted on the Hot 100: the former peaked at number 30, while the latter peaked at number one, making him the first South Korean solo artist in history to hold the top spot.

Health Issues

Jimin experienced neck and shoulder tightness in 2017 during BTS’ Wings Tour, which prevented him from performing in Macau. The band’s scheduled appearance on The Graham Norton Show was postponed the following year while he was in London for the Love Yourself World Tour due to “severe muscle pain in his neck and back,” according to a statement issued by Big Hit Entertainment.

Net Worth

Jimin’s net worth is estimated at approx $24 million as of 2023. His main sources of income are mainly from live tours, brand collaborations, concert tours, and additional shares in HYBE label stock.

Since 2018, Jimin and his bandmates have resided in Hannam-dong in Seoul, South Korea. He made a $5.3 million investment in local real estate in 2021.

He apparently drives a $33,100 KIA Carnival and a Porsche Panamera GTS, both of which cost roughly $135,200.

He is a property investor. He shares one with his BTS friend RM. They are the owners of Nine One Hannam, the priciest apartment block in Seoul. For $5.3 million, they purchased the apartment. A $3.9 million old flat in Banpo Jugong is his second residence.

Conclusion

Jimin is one of the BTS group’s primary dancers and is renowned for being a sub-vocal. He has participated in a variety of activities, such as branding and advertising.

He is a proponent of education and the arts. He paid for children at his alma school, Busan Hodong Elementary School, to purchase uniforms from 2016 to 2018.  Jimin gave KRW 100 million ($88,000) to the Busan Department of Education at the beginning of 2019 to support children from low-income families. 

He gave the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation $100 million in July 2020 to start a scholarship fund for deserving South Jeolla Province students who were struggling financially. He gave money to the Gangwon-do Education Office on a personal basis in September 2022.

Jimin gave $100 million to Rotary International in July 2021 to aid polio patients. On October 12, it was revealed that he was a part of the Green Noble Club, a collection of significant contributors to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation who have given at least $100 million. Through the Korean UNICEF Committee, he gave $100 million in February 2023 to provide immediate aid to children impacted by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
