About Shruti Haasan 

Shruti Rajalakshmi Haasan better known as Shruti Hasaan is an Indian actress, singer, music composer, dancer, and Professional model acting in South Indian films and Bollywood. She is the daughter of film stars Sarika and Kamal Haasan. Her first appearance in cinema was as a child artist in the character of Vallabhbhai Patel’s daughter in “Hey Ram” a Tamil -Hindi bilingual movie.

Earlier, she was presumed to make her debut in the film, ‘Endrendrum Punnagai (2008) opposite R. Madhavan, but due to some reason, the film got delayed. Afterward, she made her first debut as an adult in an action drama film ‘Luck’ in 2009.

Apart from acting she also likes singing and is a good singer. She came out as a big actress in various Bollywood, Tollywood, and Kollywood Movies and for that, she has been given several recognitions including three South Indian International Movie Awards and two Filmfare Awards South. She has also made her place in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list at 61st position with an  annual income of ₹80 million(approx).

Apart from her career, she is also a renowned singer and has her own music band. She is an eminent celebrity endorser for different brands and products including Emami Navratna Cool Talc and Lloyd Appliances. 

Early Life 

Shruti Haasan was born on 28th January 1986 in Chennai to actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur in a Tamil family. Her father is an Iyengar Brahmin from Tamil Nadu, while her mother was born in a Maharashtrian family. His father Kamal Haasan is an actor-filmmaker and Sarika Thakur is an actress in the South Indian film Industry. She also has a younger sister named Akshara Haasan who is an actress. Her parents got divorced in 2004 and since then both of the sisters have been staying with their mother. 

Shruti attended Abacus Montessori School for her early education and later transferred to Lady Andal School for her secondary education. Both of these schools were in Chennai. Then she relocated to Mumbai at St. Andrew’s College to pursue her Graduation in psychology. Personal Life

Shruti has been really private about her relationships but as per the media, it was known that she was having a long-term relationship with Siddharth. Later on, she was dating  London-based actor Michael Corsale. But broke up with him in 2019. Afterward, she also got into a relationship with a visual artist Santanu Hazarika. But currently, she has made no statements about her personal life in the view to keep it personal. 

She has actively engaged in social causes and initiatives. She has been connected with RPG Foundation, an initiative by an NGO to empower women. She contributed immensely to Julio Ribeiro’s campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir floods of 2014 by donating a huge amount of money. She also formulated an online clothes sale to promote circular fashion for Bal Asha Trust in Mumbai. She further helped Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital raise funds for children in 2019. 

She also went to the Cannes Film Festival in 2017. She has also done a ramp walk at the Lakme Fashion Week. She was also assigned as the representative for WWF India. She is always busy helping and serving people and hence conducts online sessions on various social topics such as mental health and sustainable fashion. 

Career

Shruti made her first appearance as a child artist in the movie hey ram, a Tamil-Hindi Bilingual movie. Earlier, she was supposed to debut in the film, ‘Endrendrum Punnagai (2008) opposite R. Madhavan, but for some reason, the film somewhere got delayed. 

Afterward, her childhood friend Imran Khan recommended her name as the director, and in 2009 she gave her first adult movie debut with the film “Luck’ opposite Imran. She made her first Telugu debut in 2011, in the speculative and adventurous movie “Anaganaga O Dheerudu”. Her career took a major turn after her movie ‘3’ with actor Dhanush.

Her highest-grossing movie was Waltair Veerayya (2023). 

She, being a playback singer has sung some songs like “Jogania” from “Tevar” 2015,  ‘Kannazhaga Kaalazhaga’ from ‘3’ (2012), and “Dappava Kizhichaan” from LKG 2019. She has been a part of many TV commercials including the brand Flite. She dubbed as ‘Elsa’ in the Tamil version of the animated movie ‘Frozen’ in 2009. In 2020, she acted in ‘Devi’ a Hindi short film, along with Kajol, neena kulkarni, and Neha Dhupia.

She will make her Kannada debut with the movie Salaar with Prabhas as the co-star in this coming year. The release date has also been finalized as 28th September 2023.
