About Yash Gowda

Naveen Kumar Gowda, better known by his stage name Yash Gowda, was born on January 8, 1986, in Karnataka. He is an Indian actor who works in Kannada films. He has been awarded three Filmfare awards by the South Asian industry.

He began his acting career by acting in TV shows in 2000. He made his 1st movie debut with “Jambada Hudugi” in 2007. He further acted in the romantic drama “Moggina Manasu” in 2008, which turned out to be a super hit. This movie proved to be a breakthrough for him, and he also received a Filmfare for it. 

He gained further stardom with the massive success of his movie KGF Chapter 1 (2018) PAN India, which was released in five different languages. The sequel, K.G.F: Chapter 2, became the third highest-grossing Indian film with earnings of over $10 million. He also promotes various communal and philanthropic causes through his foundation, the Yasho Marga Foundation. 

Early Life

Yash Gowda was born in Boovanahalli, a small village in Karnataka. He was formally given the name Naveen, but his mother’s relatives called him Yashwanth. Before he began his acting career, a lot of people in the film industry suggested him to take a stage name. So he shortened his name from Yashwanth to Yash.

His father, Arun Kumar Gowda, used to work as a driver for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, following the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation. His mother, Pushpa, is a homemaker. He has a younger sister named Nandini, who got married to a computer engineer. He had aspirations to become an actor from a young age, and thus he used to participate a lot in drama and dance competitions in his school.

He liked acting so much that he wanted to discontinue his studies after 10th grade and pursue acting as a career, but his parents didn’t accept it, so he continued his studies until 12th grade at Mahajana Education Society, where he had been studying since the start. His parents still disapproved as they wanted him to be a government officer, but at this time (2003), they got quite okay and agreed to send him to Bangalore to work as an assistant director. Later, he joined the Benaka drama troupe, a theater group whose former leader was dramatist B. V. Karanth. 

Gradually, he started acting as a backup actor. He played his first lead role as Balarama in 2004. While working in theater, he still finished his Bachelor of Arts at Bangalore’s K.L.E. College. He also acted in a television serial in the same year named ‘Uttarayana’ which got aired on Udaya TV. His family also shifted to Bangalore once they felt that Yash had already settled. Personal Life 

Yash Gowda was acting in the 2007 serial “Nanda Gokula,” where he met Radhika Pandit. They became great friends while working on different movies and eventually started dating. And eventually got married on December 9th, 2016 in Bangalore. A lot of famous celebrities and politicians attended this event. The couple has 2 kids- a daughter named Arya (4 years old) and a son named Yatharv (3 years old).

Apart from being involved in acting, he is also involved in social welfare activities through his organization, the Yasho Marga Foundation. The foundation also dealt with the issue of the water crisis in the Koppal district of Karnataka by contributing 40 million to the cause.

He has also spoken for S. R. Mahesh of the Janata Dal in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections (2018). He also expressed his interest in entering politics. He has also collaborated with Bangalore police to deal with the cause of drunk driving in 2019. In 2021, to provide financial help to workers who are in the Kannada film community, he donated Rs. 5000 to every worker. 

Career

The first Yash Gowda movie debuted in 2007 as a supporting actor in the movie “Jambada Hudugi”. He played the character of a man whose spouse is an infertile woman who seeks uterus transplantation. Following this movie, he did a romantic drama, Moggina Manasu (2008).
