Javed Jaffrey is an Indian film, television and stage actor, as well as a dancer. He was born on 4 December 1963 in Lyallpur Punjab, British India (now Faisalabad, Pakistan). His father is Nazeeruddin Ahmad Sahab, who was a soldier in the British Indian Army. Javed has two brothers, Adil and Naved Jaffrey.
Javed attended St Joseph’s College in Bangalore and studied economics at Kirori Mal College of Delhi University. During his school days, he participated in theatrical plays with themes of social issues like drug abuse or discrimination against women. This made him quite popular among his peers for his acting skills.
Javed then went to Mumbai for further studies, where he trained under the renowned Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan. After this training, he got involved in performing on stage with theater groups such as “The Company”.
