Anil Ambani full name Anil Dhirubhai Ambani was born on 4 June 1959. He is an Indian businessperson; owner, managing director, Chairman, and CEO of Reliance Group (a.k.a. Reliance ADA Group). It was created in 2006 after parenting its ways from Reliance Industries Limited. He also owns several stocks listed corporations including Reliance Capital and Reliance Power.
Earlier there was a time when was called the sixth richest person in the world. But later on, he was summoned to the UK Court in February 2020. He was declared bankrupt with a net worth of zero. Although the accusation is still in question.
Early Life
Anil Ambani was born into a Gujarati family in the village of Chorwad near Junagadh in Gujarat’s Kathiawar area. He is the son of textile magnate Dhirubhai Ambani and his wife, Smt. Kokilaben Ambani who is a committed Homemaker. He used to live with his family in a 2 Bedroom Apartment in Bhuleshwar, Mumbai. He is the youngest of three siblings, with one brother and two sisters. He has an elder brother, Mukesh Ambani, and two sisters Deepti Salgaocar (wife of Dattaraj Salgoncar) and Nina Kothari (wife of late Bhadra Shyam Kothari). He did his Bachelor’s from Kishinchand Chellaram College and received an MBA degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.

Anil Ambani is married to Tina Munim (Former Indian Film Actress). He married her after facing a lot of resistance from her family as she was from the Fashion and Glamour world. They were blessed with two sons Jai Anshul Ambani and Jai Anmol Ambani. Jai Anmol Ambani, Ambani’s oldest son, married Krisha Shah, daughter of the late Nikunj Shah, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur, on February 20, 2022.

Anil Ambani’s father Dhirubhai Ambani died in 2002 and he declared nothing as to how the business will continue after his demise. After a lot of disagreement between him and his brother Mukesh, their mother took a step and split the family business between the two brothers. He received some major parts from Reliance Groups including telecom, entertainment, financial services, power, and infrastructure.
In 2005, he made his entry into the Entertainment Industry by investing in Adlabs Films. Afterward, the name of the company was changed to Reliance MediaWorks in 2009. Ambani’s global entertainment business was founded in 2008 with a $1.2 billion joint venture with Steven Spielberg’s production company DreamWorks. He has made several contributions to the production of several Spielberg films, including the film Lincoln which later won an award.
In 2019, he was summoned to a Mumbai court in some criminal contempt for non-payment of personally guaranteed debt the company took from Ericsson. He was not put in jail directly but was given some time to come up with the funds. Later, he was bailed by his brother, Mukesh Ambani.
He was also involved in a court battle with three Chinese banks in February 2020.
The court ordered him to set aside US$100 million, prompting him to declare that his net worth is currently zero after accounting for his liabilities. The dispute is still going on. In 2021, his name along with his brother was given in Pandora papers. Further in 2023, the Bombay High Court questioned the Income Tax Department’s accusation of tax evasion against Anil Ambani, following his suit and challenging the judgment of the notice issued by the IT department.
