Mr. Beast, a stage name for Jimmy Donaldson, is an American YouTuber. He is a businessman and philanthropist as well. He specializes in creating funny, entertaining, vlog, gaming, and expensive stunt videos. In 2012, he began uploading videos to his “MrBeast6000” YouTube channel at the age of thirteen. Jimmy Donaldson, better known as Mr. Beast, was born in Greenville, North Carolina, on May 7, 1998. He shared his childhood with his brother and was raised by his mother.

Donaldson completed his secondary education at the nearby private school Greenville Christian Academy in 2016. Before quitting, he briefly attended East Carolina University. Donaldson has Crohn’s disease, which is an inflammatory bowel disorder.

Early viral attempts (2012–2017)

At the age of 13, Donaldson posted his first YouTube video under the username “MrBeast6000” in February 2012. His early videos included Let’s Plays (primarily centered on Minecraft and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2), videos estimating the wealth of other YouTubers, videos offering advice to aspiring YouTube creators, and commentary on drama on the platform. Donaldson didn’t appear in many of his videos in the beginning of his channel. Around 240 people were subscribers to his channel, “That-dude,” in July 2013.

Controversy

A YouTuber by the name of Flyy Does YT charged Mr. Beast with fabricating his videos in 2018. Many people took the 25 minute long, accusatory video seriously because Flyy Does YT had been an editor for Mr Beast for one week.

In a video posted by another YouTuber, Mr. Beast was charged with mistreating his workers by having them record his videos. Additionally, he had said that Mr. Beast lies to the camera and is not who he really is.

In response to the allegations, Mr. Beast tweeted that he had actually given away a lot of money and that he had not been acting in front of the camera. He said “Flyy Does YT” or anyone else was free to approach those who had received the money and inquire as to whether they had actually done so.

Additionally, he refuted the claim that he was mistreating his staff by claiming that he has Crohn’s disease and that whenever he is ill, he asks his staff to help finish the videos.

Philanthropist

I Opened My Own Charity was Jimmy Donaldson’s first video uploaded to his Beast Philanthropy YouTube channel, which he launched on September 17, 2020. Through this video, Jimmy Donaldson announced the opening of the Darren food bank, a nonprofit organization. In his opening video, he also made a plea for charity to receive all of the channel’s revenue from sponsorships, brand deals, and merchandise sales. 

The charity had provided more than 1.1 million pounds of food, was supplying nearly 1,000 households in the Greenville, North Carolina, area with food on a weekly basis, and had provided more than 9,000 hot meals for Hurricane Ida victims, according to the Associated Press media house.

Beast Reacts is a second channel Mr. Beast created for watching and reviewing lifehacks. Although he has frequently appeared on this channel, it primarily features his friends.

Mr.Beast was the original name of the Beast Reacts channel. Later, he gave it its current name so that it could be found more easily.

Donaldson is an investor in the tech startup Backbone, which makes the Backbone One controller that makes smartphones look more like Nintendo Switch controllers and the Backbone app, an application for its users that allows them to create content and access social media.

To launch Juice Funds, a $2 million investment fund that offers creators up to $250,000 in exchange for equity in their YouTube channels, Donaldson teamed up with the Creative Juice financial network in March 2021.

Donaldson joined Current Financial Technology as a long-term investor and partner in April 2021. In the same month, Donaldson faced criticism after many of his fans lost a lot of money in a cryptocurrency scheme he had backed and promoted.
